Dr. Brian Livesay, Ph.D.
Licensed Clincial Psychologist
Dr. Brian Livesay, Ph.D., is a dedicated clinical psychologist with extensive experience in veteran mental health, trauma, and developmental psychology. He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Idaho State University in 2021 and completed his clinical psychology internship at the Veterans Affairs Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System. His academic journey also includes a B.A. in Psychology with a focus on neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, a Minor in Military Science, and a master’s degree specializing in developmental psychology and childhood development.
Currently, Dr. Livesay serves as a clinician at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center, where he provides mental health services to Student Veterans across multiple campuses in Northern Colorado and Southeastern Wyoming. In addition to his clinical work, he plays a key role in training future psychologists, offering supervision and didactic instruction within the VA’s Clinical Psychology Internship and Fellowship Training programs.
In addition to his work with the VA, Dr. Livesay serves as the Director of Clinic Research at ARISE Alliance, where he contributes to the organization’s mission of advancing mental health care through the Critical Memory Integration (CMI™) Program. His role involves spearheading research, academic publications, and program development, furthering the organization’s commitment to supporting individuals dealing with trauma, PTSD, and other psychological challenges.
His research focuses on treatment program outcomes, PTSD diagnostic criteria in Veterans, and the effectiveness of first-line treatments for PTSD and Moral Injury. His additional research includes child aggression and noncompliance, sibling conflict resolution, adolescent absenteeism, and developmental behavioral neuroscience. Over the past decade, he has contributed significantly to the field of psychology through publications, presentations, and training program development, with a strong emphasis on moral injury, PTSD treatment effectiveness, and novel experiential therapies for stress and trauma injuries.
Dr. Livesay’s military background includes service as a non-commissioned officer with the 1016th Quartermaster Company in the Army Reserves. As a commissioned officer, he has held leadership roles such as Company Commander for the 172nd Multifunctional Medical Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment Company, Logistics Officer for the 1385th Combat and Operational Stress Control Unit, Platoon Leader for the 971st Medical Logistics Company 2nd Platoon, and Executive Officer for the 1016th Quartermaster Company.
Dr. Livesay’s dedication to clinical excellence, research, and service has been recognized through multiple honors, including the Central Oregon Public Safety Chaplaincy Research Grant, the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), and the 48th Department of the Army Philip A. Connelly Awards Program Reserve Component Nominee. His passion for advancing mental health care, particularly for Veterans, continues to shape his work and contributions to the field.
